Water Extinguishers:
Water extinguishers are suitable for Class A fires caused by the combustion of solid materials, mainly of organic origin, such as wood, paper, straw, textiles and coal. Such extinguishers are available either as full jet or super spray versions.
Foam Extinguishers:
Foam extinguishers are ideal where both Class A and Class B fires exist. AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) is particularly suited to Class B fires which are caused by the combination of materials that liquefy such as petrol, oils, fats, paints, tar etc.
C02 Extinguishers:
Carbon dioxide extinguishers are suitable for Class B risks involving flammable liquids and especially for electrical hazards. C02 extinguishers are harmless to electrical equipment and ideal for modern offices, electronic risks, and fires caused by the combustion of liquids such as oils, fats, solvents etc.
Powder Extinguishers:
Dry powder fire extinguishers are recommended for mixed fire environments because they cover Class A, Class B and Class C fires. They are especially suited for flammable liquids and fires involving flammable gases such as methane, propane, hydrogen and natural gas.
Wet Chemical Extinguishers:
Wet chemical extinguishers are ideal for Class F fires, involving cooking oils and fats, such as lard, olive oil, sunflower oil, maize oil and butter. It is extremely effective as the wet chemical rapidly knocks the flames out, cools the burning oil and chemically reacts to form a soap-like solution, sealing the surface and preventing re-ignition.
